Frequently Asked Questions

  • HearYou.org is a division of Wellness Together, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. HearYou.org was founded out of a passion to create timely access to mental health services for educators and school staff. Our services are accessible to eligible employees and/or students of partnering schools and organizations.

  • Counseling is available to eligible employees or students of partnering schools, districts, or organizations who have contracted with HearYou.org for therapy services. If you are unsure if your school, district, or organization provides sessions through HearYou.org please contact us or contact your school or organization.

  • All counselors are HearYou.org employees. They are licensed therapists and clinically supervised associates and trainees. HearYou.org Counselors are interviewed and screened through rigorous background checks, and associates and trainees are supervised weekly by licensed clinical supervisors.

  • We offer confidential and online mental health counseling services to eligible employees or students of partnering school districts within California.

  • School districts and organizations partner with HearYou.org to extend a specific number of sessions to eligible employees or students at no cost to the employee or student. HearYou.org does not provide private pay options for services.

  • Fill out the short form on our Get Started page and our Care Coordinator will reach out to match you with one of our counselors.

  • Your counselor utilizes a HIPAA secure video conferencing platform to communicate with you confidentially via video sessions and secure messaging. Your Care Coordinator will get you set up on the platform when you schedule your first session.

  • Partnering school districts and organizations will select the number of sessions that each eligible employee or student will have covered. Once the covered sessions are utilized, private pay options are not available for continued sessions. HearYou.org Counselors and Care Coordinators work with each individual to support them in getting linked with outside therapists or community-based organizations for continued care if needed.

  • The California Board of Behavioral Sciences recognizes Telehealth as an effective mode of delivering counseling services. HearYou.org counselors utilize evidence-based interventions to help you meet your counseling goals. Telehealth is not effective for every client, if it is determined by a HearYou.org Counselor that telehealth is not an appropriate level of care for an individual they will work with the Care Coordinator to find local referrals within the community.

  • Sessions are conducted on a secure Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) platform. Our counselors take all precautions to safeguard your information. Information about who utilizes covered sessions is safeguarded from partnering schools and organizations to ensure the highest level of confidentiality for their employees and students.
